Hello everyone,
I received a response to a review I did sometime ago about a new site called AB-Canada, the first Canadian company to offer ABUniverse diapers. My review was kind of a rant about how the only payment option was by credit card and that there was no option to ship by Canada Post.
The reply I received clarified a few things. 1) The company was now under new management. 2) PayPal was now a payment option. 3) Canada Post is not offered because they had problems with them picking up shipments and had trouble using the Canada Post shipping system.
Now on to my remarks pertaining to the explanations received. O come on, you know it was coming. Hehehe…
1) Under New Management: Whoopy Do! The only thing that would make this important at all is what changes the new owners will make. So far adding PayPal was a start but should have been present right from the start.
2) PayPal Now Accepted: This is a great move, one that should have been present right from the initial launch.
3) Canada Post Problems: It is amazing to hear that Canada Post for their area in Vancouver doesn’t have the same high quality of service as Ontario and Quebec, two provinces where I purchase my diapers from. B4NS in Quebec and Ontario Incontinence Supplies in Ontario. Most orders I do through B4NS and always have my order within 48 hours. Canada Post has always been great with my deliveries.
Regarding the usage of the Canada Post Internet shipping system, when I ran my own site selling AB products or setup a shopping cart for someone, I always install the Canada Post Shipping Module for the shopping cart software I prefer. The module makes everything so easy including printing out the shipping labels. I find it hard to believe that the shopping cart software being used by AB-Canada does not have a add-on module for Canada Post, especially for a paid shopping cart like they’re using. What cart do I use for people, OSCommerce. It is a great free shopping cart with hundreds of add-ons created by those who use the OSC. Yes it is a outdated with v3 being in the works now for a year or two but if you want to save money and have access to so many add-on’s then OSC is the cart to use.
I will say that browsing AB-Canada on a Black Berry Curve 3G (9300) was quite fast which was nice since I was out with a friend and my cell signal wasn’t that great. The downside though was the shipping cost. To ship 2 sample packs by the only courier they offer (Fed/Ex) came to double the amount of the order. Needless to say I stopped right there and left the site. For those on tight budgets, cost is a huge factor which is one reason I always prefer Canada Post. Shipping cost is usually the cheapest making it great for the low income earners.
